The history that surrounds this ancient Coaching Inn, situated right in the heart of the Elizabethan riverside town of Totnes provides a unique place to stay. Many famous people have enjoyed hospitality here including Edward V! Daniel Defoe - author of Robinson Crusoe, and Royal Princes whilst training at Dartmouth Naval College. The historic quayside is just a stones throw away, where passenger boats travel downstream to Dartmouth, home of our sister hotel - The Royal Castle.

Excellent Food We offer an excellent choice of menu and informal dining venues, sourcing most of our food supplies locally from the South Hams.
